The Grayson District Attorney’s office is stepping in to teach students and parents about online predators.
The office teamed up with Grayson County Law Enforcement for a program that will educate and inform parents about digital predators with whom their children could be interacting. Texas Rangers player Brad Oliver also made an appearance to assist.
"Awareness. I don't think most people know everything that's on their child's phone," said Maureen Smith, who works for the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, according to KXII. "I think it brings it home to people. It shows them that it's real. I'm very proud that this presentation was featured in The Texas Prosecutor, which is a magazine that goes out to every prosecutor in the state of Texas. And we're encouraging other prosecutorial offices and other DA's offices in the state to do these programs as well."
Parents met this month for the seminar. Smith hopes the program will expand statewide.
