Now that it’s received approval from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), the Upper Trinity Regional Water District will receive $413 million from the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) for Lake Ralph.
The Texas Water Newsroom reported the water district includes Fannin, Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Grayson and Wise counties. The area has the potential of saving about $2 million from the SWIFT program.
With the new funds, Lake Ralph will develop a new water supply in the district that could reach 35 million gallons a day, plus an extra 19 million gallons of day from indirect use. The district is slated to pay for the construction portion of the project like the raw water transmission pipeline, relocating utilities, and work on the intake and pump station.
The SWIFT Program consists of two funds: the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas and the State Water Implementation Revenue Fund For Texas, which issues revenue bonds.
