Cost of college went up for all students at North Central Texas College

In-state tuition and fees rose 7.3 percent for 2018-19 at North Central Texas College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Texas residents paid $3,864 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $264 more than the $3,600 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 65.2 percent more than residents this year, or $6,384. Their price tag grew 6.4 percent from $6,000 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Texas residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 68 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 422 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2 million and 187 students took out student loans totaling more than $843,032.

Including all undergraduates (10,525), 4,701 students used grants or scholarships totaling $14.1 million, and 2,138 students took out $10.8 million in federal student loans.
