Voters in the 68th District will soon decide who'll replace Drew Springer after he won his bid for state Senate.

Springer, a Republican, was elected to serve as senator for District 30 during a special runoff election this month. He's served the 68th District in the House since 2013.

Gov. Greg Abbott set the special election date to fill his seat for Jan. 23, with early voting slated to begin on Jan. 11. Candidates who'd like to have their names on the ballot must submit their applications to the Secretary of State before 5 p.m. on Jan. 4.

The election will decide who'll serve the remainder of Springer's term in the House, to which he was re-elected during the November general election.
