There were 3,096 students enrolled in Gainesville ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.6% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.5% of them were boys, and 48.5% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 61.6% of the Gainesville ISD total enrollment.

Gainesville ISD roughly covers schools within Cooke County with its main office in Gainesville.

Among the five schools in Gainesville ISD, Gainesville High School recorded the highest enrollment of 863 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
