Van Alstyne ISD welcomed 2,285 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 2,285 students enrolled in Van Alstyne ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 11.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50% of them were girls, and 50% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 69.8% of the Van Alstyne ISD total enrollment.

Van Alstyne ISD roughly covers schools within Grayson County with its main office in Van Alstyne.

Among the four schools in Van Alstyne ISD, Van Alstyne High School recorded the highest enrollment of 632 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
