Gunter ISD welcomed 1,158 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,158 students enrolled in Gunter ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.9% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54.4% of them were boys, and 45.6% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 73.9% of the Gunter ISD total enrollment.

Gunter ISD roughly covers schools within Grayson County with its main office in Gunter.

Among the three schools in Gunter ISD, Gunter Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 414 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
