City of Gainesville issued the following announcement on April 21.
Lt. Brad Thompson retired from GF-R in late March after 29 years of service and an additional 3 years as a volunteer. Sadly, his retirement reception had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. He left quietly without the usual formalities given retirees, in the middle of an emerging pandemic. This presentation was to be played at his retirement reception. It condenses 29 years into a few minutes, but we ask you to honor Lt. Thompson by watching it and helping us congratulate him (finally)! He has given so much to our community. We wish you the best Lt. Thompson, and greatly appreciate your service to the citizens of Gainesville.
