City of Gainesville issued the following announcement on May 27.
The Solid Waste Division will be picking up brush that was left from the recent storms. If you have a tree on your property (car, house, etc), please contact your insurance company and a private tree removal company. If you hire a private tree removal company, please make sure that the price they quote includes removal of the tree debris and not for placement on the curb for City crews to haul away. At the Transfer Station, brush is free for residents only – you must present your City of Gainesville utility billing statement and driver’s license. Contractors will be charged per ton. For brush left at the curb by residents, pick up will begin the week of June 1, 2020 in the area of the Monday cart route. When this area is completed, we will move onto the Tuesday cart route area and then to Thursday and Friday routes. This could take up to several weeks in some of these areas.
If trees are in overhead lines, please contact the electric or phone company. As a reminder, residents are advised to use extreme caution and stay away and out from under trees. If trees fall on power lines, stay away and call 9-1-1.
The City of Gainesville appreciates the continued cooperation and assistance from residents as we clean up the city from last week’s storms. For more information, please contact the General Services at (940)668-4551.
