CITY OF GAINESVILLE: Stop The Knock Census 2020

Censusman

City of Gainesville issued the following announcement on Aug. 5.

The campaign is designed to encourage residents to respond to the Census now to lessen the possibility of a Census employee knocking on their door in the month of August. The initiative is part of the Bureau’s Rural Week efforts.

Field workers are expected to begin canvassing the rural and hard-to-count locations to complete their questionnaire.

In addition to the messaging, the region will join in on events throughout the North Texas area to inform those attending on the different ways they can complete their Census, including online by visiting 2020census.gov, by phone at 844.330.2020 (English) or 844.468.2020 (Spanish), or by mail.

Currently North Texas holds an average of 62.9 percent self-response rate, which is over the national response of 62.8 percent and over the state of Texas which is at 57.8 percent.

The 2020 Census helps ensure a complete and accurate count of all communities in the United States, which helps guide hundreds of billions of dollars in public and private sector spending per year for the area and state of Texas. For more information residents can go to 2020census.gov
