LEONARD INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL: Message To Parents and Staff From Brad Maxwell

Interviewmedia

Leonard Intermediate School issued the following announcement on Jan. 6.

Welcome back to LISD as we hope all of our families enjoyed the holidays!  Our students and staff are scheduled to return tomorrow, January 7.  We will be completing the third six weeks and first semester on Friday, January 15.  This day is scheduled as an early release day at 12:30pm for all students.  Monday, January 18 will be a student/staff holiday and the fourth six weeks and second semester will begin on Tuesday, January 19.  Any remote learning student who has not met academic or attendance requirements for the first semester (as was noted in the December 17 correspondence via School Messenger and posted on the LISD website) will need to transition to in-person learning with the start of the second semester.  However, parents will have the option to schedule an appeals meeting with their child's campus to discuss the lack of academic or attendance progress if they choose or provide a medical exemption form.

We would also like to share some important COVID reminders as we return to school.  Those who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 10 days or those who have been in close contact with a person with a confirmed COVID-19 case during this time should not return to school.  Those individuals should contact either school nurse Nancy Zachary at zacharyn@leonardisd.net or 903-587-2316, ext. 230 or Leah Thompson at thompsonls@leonardisd.net or 903-587-2315, ext. 502, and they will let those individuals know when their return date should be.  In addition, all students and staff should continue to prescreen each day before coming to school and remain off campus if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms -

*Feeling feverish or have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher

*Loss of taste or smell

*New uncontrolled cough

*Difficulty breathing/shortness of breath

*Nausea, diarrhea or vomiting

*Significant muscle pain or aches

*Congestion, runny nose or sore throat

*Headache

*Fatigue

*Chills, shaking or exaggerated shivering

Face coverings are required for all staff members and for students in 4th grade and above.  While students in elementary school are not required to wear a face covering, it is encouraged.  However, any student riding the school bus must wear a face covering.  LISD appreciates your support as the health and safety of our students and staff is paramount.
