How many Hispanic students were enrolled in Howe ISD schools in 2022-23 school year?

There were 373 Hispanic students enrolled in Howe ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 6.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Howe ISD schools welcomed 1,283 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 29.1% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Howe ISD roughly covers schools within Grayson County and has a main office in Howe.

Among the four schools in Howe ISD schools, Summit Hill Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 129 students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
