Rep. Pat Fallon, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 4th district, has recently expressed concerns over various national security and defense issues through a series of tweets. Fallon, who replaced John Ratcliffe in 2021, highlighted challenges facing the United States' industrial and military capabilities.
On December 6, 2024, Rep. Fallon tweeted about China's shipbuilding capacity compared to that of the United States. He stated that "China's shipbuilding capacity is currently 230x greater than America's." He emphasized the importance of the U.S. Navy as a strategic asset and advocated for rebuilding the domestic industrial base to deter the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the Indo-Pacific region.
In another tweet on the same day, Fallon stressed the need for prioritizing industrial capabilities within Congress and the Department of Defense (DOD). He wrote: "Whether its our weapon stockpiles or ships, getting our industrial base back up to speed should be a priority for Congress and the DOD."
Later that day, Rep. Fallon criticized President Biden's foreign policy approach with respect to military strategy in Africa and the Middle East. He commented: "Biden's foreign policy can be summed up as 'optics over substance.'" According to Fallon, under Biden’s administration, U.S. forces withdrew from Niger and Chad, relinquishing a strategic air base to Russian mercenaries which he claims has undermined counterterrorism efforts in these regions.
