There were 1,115 students enrolled in Gunter ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 8.9% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 53.9% of them were boys, and 46.1% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 73.8% of the Gunter ISD total enrollment.

Gunter ISD roughly covers schools within Grayson County with its main office in Gunter.

Among the three schools in Gunter ISD, Gunter Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 418 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
